Friends of Dr Williams’s LibraryThe Friends of Dr Williams’s Library was founded in 1946 and Dr W. R. Matthews the Dean of St. Paul’s, was elected the first President. Since then Friends have done much to help the Library. They have provided funds towards the cost of publishing the 1900-1970 Catalogues of Accessions; financial help towards the cost of cataloguing the extensive Roman and Byzantine collection left to the Library by the late Professor Norman Baynes; assistance towards the purchase of equipment, such as microfilm readers, as well as grants for the purchase of books and manuscripts. Recently Friends made a grant of £7000 towards the Library Appeal. The annual lectures, sponsored by the Friends, are intended to make a contribution to scholarship.New members of the Friends are welcome. Each member is invited to the Annual General Meeting, Tea and Lecture and also receives a free copy of the published Annual Lecture. Please address membership enquiries to: The Secretary, Friends of Dr Williams’s Library, 14 Gordon Square, London WC1H 0AR. The minimum subscription is £5, but Friends are asked to give an additional sum in order to help the Library. |
